Alright chaps, like the title says all of a sudden in a game like counter strike or league of legends i will get a MAJOR ping rush and it will plummet sky high out of NOWHERE and I have NO IDEA WHY, and it is just ruining my game.

Anyway I run through an ethernet cable to a 100mbps dl speed modem modem, in fact here is a speed test - http://i.imgur.com/SACcMu3.png

Somehow it shows up ok on the speed test, but when i play league of legends and counter strike i will just get a huge lagg spike all of a sudden! I seriously have NO idea what on earth it could be so i really need your guys help!

I mean what could it be? I've never had this problem before it just randomly came up one day like 2 weeks ago, could it be something to do with the pc next door? the ethernet cable itself? i just don't know!

Your description is a little vague so it's hard to tell if it's even a network issue or just non-network video stutter.

Saying it's a "major ping rush" might make sense to you but I don't know what you are trying to describe.

- How often is this happening?
- What exactly do you see?
- Is there a loss of control such that your character could get killed because you couldn't do anything for a second?

- Finally, how LONG has this problem been happening? One day? One week?

Sorry for the late reply, well firstly its completely arbitrary, it could happen every 5 minutes for say 4 seconds! completely random

What i see is just kind of 'time freezing' whereas my character will kind of stop, and i die so yes i do get killed because of it and its bloody annoying

IT IS NOT FPS just to clear that up, and about 2 weeks

You're running into Sync issues. D-sync if I recall. Adjust your settings, your system is falling out of sync, not because of network speed, but because its bottlenecking at processing everything coming through. Adjust your video settings to see if the issue resolves itself. Look like a v or d sync option to disable. That's a common issue in fast paced online games.. basically your video card is struggling to keep up at all the processes coming in at it.

Not likely.
It's called V-Sync and it doesn't cause the errors being discussed. If 60FPS can't be maintained then it puts out 30FPS (assuming 60Hz VSYNC).

You CAN improve lag by disabling V-Sync however but then you get screen tearing.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
1) If no problems in offline games it's a network issue.

2) If it's a network issue then the problem could be:
a) the game server
b) your ROUTER/MODEM
c) your PC

In some cases your PC has hardware issues causing freezing. I have to go but I'll think more about this.
