Hello

I'm going to upgrade around Christmas time and looking for an affordable upgrade to Haswell. Would prefer a i5 Minimum. Also could you advise what motherboard I could get for my price? Also I would like to get a full ATX mobo thanks.

Current Specs

CPU i3-2120
CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer i30
MOBO ASUS P8H61-MX (Micro-ATX)
RAM 4GB DDR3-1333Mhz
GFX Gigabyte Geforce GTX 650 Ti 2GB
PSU Xigmatic 500w
CASE Coolermaster Elite 430 (Full-ATX)

Honestly, you're better off finding a deal on a SB quad core to upgrade from your i3. Find a decent i5 or i7 and do that in SB or IB, don't bother buying a new board, unless you specifically want to overclock. Haswell isn't a compelling reason for anyone to upgrade...

Ok Thank you. Got any reccomedations on what CPU to get? I'm also looking to get a CPU That can run BF4. Also I want it to last a while. Though I still don't like my current board :/ I would've like to get a Haswell board with USB 3 and in ATX form because I went for Micro-ATX :/

something like the i7-2600 or i7-2700 should be fine, but don't go less than the i5-2500.

If you want a new board, get a H77 board and a 2500/2600/2700 or even something like a 3470/3570/3770. You don't need a k series processor unless you want to overclock, and if you're going to do that, go to a Z77 board.

That would require a new motherboard as well. FX 8320 would be of similar performance for less cost than a haswell i5. Take into account what it would take to be able to overclock an i5, which would require a more expensive k series chip vs an 8320, and the price gap widens even more. One option available to you is to update the bios and find a Sandy Bridge based E3 1230. It is an i7 without the IGP.
