Steam Games transfer

I reinstalled OS so i just copied the game files (TF2,Planetside2,Dota2).
But after reading things online I found out that you had to backupthe whole steam apps folder. Help me im stuck. I just have steamapps folder with sourcemods. Thanks
 
Solution
You should be able to just copy it over without a problem. You only have to keep the folders in the same structure. By default, the game folders should be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common" for 64bit systems and "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common" for 32bit systems. Once you copy over the folders, Steam will need to verify it. All you have to do is install the game through the Steam library and it should start verifying that you have all the game files.

I created a file "common" on steamapps and put the game there. Now when I said install, it said "Discovering existing files" or smthing and it finished and now started downloading :/
