Solution A A Alabalcho Oct 29, 2013 The limiting factor here is the chipset (i915), and the processor (CeleronD). These are 32-bit parts, and they don't support more than 4gb.

Dell site says the same (confirm here, page 40): ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-3100_service%20manual_en-us.pdf I have seen these machines work with 4GB (2x2GB) of memory (unofficial support).
