I've never built a system before. I've only ever used pre-built PCs or Macs.

This is for a mid-to-high level gaming rig.

Quick spec list:
Intel Core i3-4130 Haswell
GeForce GTX 660 2GB
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3 RAM
SAMSUNG 840 EVO 120GB SSD
2x 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

Here's the full wishlist with all the components.

System price: ~$1,024 (before rebates)

I feel like this is way too good a price for what I'm getting. Am I forgetting something important? I know I'm short a few SATA cables, and of course a monitor, keyboard, etc.

I just built my first gaminng rig similar to yours but i will give some tweaks that im my long time researching pc building i have come up with. First just get 4 or 8 gb of the G.skill ram, 16 gb is over kill. Look at my build at teh end of this post, i only have 4gb of ram and i can run battlefield at 55 FPS all day long. Second go with an i5 preferably a 4670 or 4670k, third the mobo is good but a MSI Z87-G45 gaming mobo is a little cheaper and just as good. lastly the power supply is in my opinion too weak. I would go with a rosewill capstone 650 watt or higher. The case is good, but to shave a little off the cost a NZXT Tempest is 39.99 and just as good as the case you have picked out. Yes i did bring your system close to mine, but i researched and made many different builds before i came to the conclusion that mine was as good as i can get for the price. I am in no way saying what you have picked out is not good, its a great build but im just trying to help you get a better system for the money.

My build
I5 4670K,4 GB G.Skill ripjaws ram,MSI-G45 Gaming mobo, Rosewill 650 watt gold cert PSU,cooler master seidon liquid cpu cooler,EVGA GTX 660 SC,NZXT Tempest mid tower,500 GB harddrive,windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks for the great and really fast answers! About the MSI board... I read some reviews that seemed to indicate MSI boards tend to die for no reason, so I was scared away from that. Maybe that's not an accurate representation. On the 2 1TB drives, I was thinking RAID them, but I could just go with 1 drive, 50/50 raid (or whatever the right number is; 0 I think?)

But thanks to both of you for the great advice, this is exactly what I was looking for.

No probelm i was helped out many times before i purcahsed and assembled my gaming rig so i know first hand how nice it is to get some advice:) All i can say from my experience of useing the MSI board i have is it is perfect. It installed with 0 problems and runs flawlessly. I think with all mobo's there are a a good bit of DOA's but i would say msi will last just as long or break just as fast as ASUS. Both are good brands with good reputations. The only msi board with an excessive amount of problems was one that used "bullet" styled heat sinks and that was a major design flaw that caused arching that fried many of that particular model MOBO. Anyway i hope all goes well with your build, and that you enjoy gaming on a great setup:)
