I am looking at building a little desktop PC for running some game servers and to take to other people's houses when I go. That being said, I am not sure what CPU to go with, but I am looking for something in the budget (100-150 dollars) category. Please leave suggestions

How many things do you plan on running at once? I can't imagine a take-it-with-you server will ever be used for more than one game at a time. If so, an 8 core processor is unneeded. You can get an A10 6800K which will perform 8% better than an Athlon x4 750K. ...If 8% is worth $60 to you.

Sadly, with that budget, you are limited to i3's or an AMD FM2 socket CPU. There aren't any AM3+ mini ITX boards. i3's are faster in games and applications than a stock 750k. Overclocked the 750k/760k could pull ahead slightly in applications, but is still inferior for games. I am unfamiliar with game servers and how much cpu matters for them. If you bump up to a micro ATX build, you could go with an FX 6300, bump it to an FX 6350 and have a better CPU for the same cost as an i3. There are small Micro ATX enclosures that aren't much different in size to an itx.

In this scenario, you might want to consider building a franken-computer out of old junk computers that your friends or family may have laying around. With the exception of Minecraft, game servers aren't very demanding at all and would probably run fine even on old Pentium 4s. Although it sounds like you want something tiny. Good luck!

I just wanted to clarify that you guys know that the 100-150 dollars is the budget for the CPU only, right? I am hoping for the whole thing not to cost more than 350 dollars. Oh, and I will be running a minecraft server btw.

With that CPU budget, you are limited to i3's at best from Intel and a 760k from AMD. Bump the budget to about $180 and you could get an entry level i5. Go to a small Micro Atx enclosure and you could go with an FX 6300 or FX 8320. From the sound of it, Minecraft servers need some serious grunt. In that case, i5 or going M-ATX with an 8320 are better options.

Would I really need an 8-core? One thing I was thinking about was getting something with integrated graphics as well. Though I am not sure if AMD makes those. And also, I do not have a Microcenter.

Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 and Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 have on board IGP. I am unsure of the requirements for what you are wanting to do. The comment from anxiousinfusion implied that you would need some decent CPU power. FX 8320 would be on par with a base i5 in many tasks, but pulls ahead in multitasking situations. If you don't require that much, an FX 6300 bumped to an FX 6350 is a nice alternative.
