Hi guys, i'm planning to buy a new keyboard soon.
I have a budget of 450 dollars.

I have single monitor 1920x1080, and I'm planning on buying another GPU in 3-4 years, so this GPU has to last long. What do you guys recommend? What should I pick that will be able to handle future games? 770 4gb for my monitor, or R9 280X? Maybe 760 SLI?

I also have i7 3770k processor, and AX860 PSU (I think its way than enough for future reference)

EDIT: turns out my monitor is 24", 60 hertz, so after all, do i really need that huge graphics card? What would be best for me, for next 3 years , and suitable with my screen? I might get a second screen just for the help, would this require more VRAMS on gpu? Can anyone help me, what should i pick in this situation?

My monitor: LG M2452D, its a TV (sort of), but i use it for gaming

That is completely rumor and nothing more. As far as I am aware, the CPU cannot be optimized in this way. The only thing close to this is the APU's that AMD makes and that is only if you have a low end card and do crossfire with it. Otherwise the CPU won't favor Nvidia or AMD.
In fact, while it still is not favoring AMD, I would see it closer to Intel having better performs out of the AMD cards than the AMD CPU's would give in some situations. The big reason for this is that Nvidia has Physics which are only used in a few games, but require the CPU to execute the coding if you aren't using an Nvidia GPU. In this situation the Intel CPU would help the AMD card more since it is faster, and the Nvidia graphics card won't get this boost...
You don't need 4GB, and I question if you need more than 2GB. Vram is mostly used with higher resolutions and with multiple displays. On a single monitor (a 32" TV in this case) I did a test with my 7850 2GB card using MSI Afterburner which can monitor vRAM use. After an hour of playing Tomb Raider on high settings with the resolution set to 1920x1080 I never used more than I think 1600MB of the vRam, and the textures were set to ultra.

So while other games might get higher resolution textures, its doubtful at that resolution that 2GB will be a bottleneck.

Also if I am not mistaken the R9 280x is equal to the 7970 so it should have 3GB of RAM, so you should be completely safe.

I agree with rolli59's order of looking at things. But I didn't think any of the worse companies had started selling them yet, and I didn't think any had changed the cooler design yet, but like TBC1 showed, ASUS, whichi s a good company, has one ot with a good cooler it looks like.

Now, being in my position, and having i7 intel processor, Is it still good to buy an AMD GPU? Cause i've heard rumors that Intel is optimized for nvidia, and same with AMD CPU's & GPU's.

I really want to purchase r9 280x since its cheaper+games like bf4 is going to be optimized with mantle.

So to summarize this, my question - should I still buy r9 280x with my intel processor?

I would definitely buy the 280x if I was in your position.

Thanks! I'll be getting 280x then! Probably the asus version. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FRV9FDK/ref=s9_bbs_gw_d0_g147_i5?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-6&pf_rd_r=0FTA5BZD1XG104Y9S09A&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=430173467&pf_rd_i=468294 Do you think this is good?

£290 at Amazon? It's £258 at Scan http://bit.ly/1aL0Ubg

This one is even faster http://bit.ly/HI857D
Damn that box is sexxay

Or pick what you like http://bit.ly/197YKfc

edit: sorry about that iPhone joke. I get easily ticked off when people buy into stereotypes and rumours. When asked ignorant questions I have an itch to give equally ignorant answers. Which video card should I get AMD or Nvidia? Get Apple of course!

I understand wanting to stick with a seller you are used to, but based on the price difference, the 290 on amazon will probably be closer to 400.

I would personally get it on Scan, or go ahead with a 280x. You will be waiting a long time for amazon to meet that price.

He would be waiting a long time. The reference cards do get hot, but what high end card doesn't?
It won't set the house of fire, and wake everyone cause you can lock its fan speed at 40% and as Tomshardware showed in its reviews, thats a pretty comfortable volume.

AMD is currently not letting companies sell it with special cooling solutions form other companies, and is expected not to for some time. The reason is because the performance varies greatly dependent on heat conditions. AMD knows Nvidia is going to try to take back performance leadership with the 780 Ti, and they are likely going to wait until its release before allowing special cooling solutions because it doesn't want Nvidia to know how much performance the r9 290x will give.

Yes waiting for a better cooling solution would be better, but you will be waiting for quite some time for it.
