RyanDavidson :
The case is great it's the one I was going for in the first place
a few questions
1. Will the i5 be good enough as next gen consoles have 8 cores? 8 weak cores they are but still
2.What about I go for a cheaper £100-£110 mobo and go for a better ssd? Samsung pro
3.The graphics card is amazing. But what about the R9 290 not the R9 290x and 780ti etc
4.Im not building till January so do you think any new cpus would be released?
Sorry for the bunch of questions lol.
1. The i5 4670k is the predecessor to the i5 3570k which was considered the best cpu for gaming by many critics. With roughly a 10% performance increase I do not see you lucking out. Also games are much more GPU demanding (except for some occasional special ones, but the haswell i5 should have no trouble especially if you plan to OC)
2. The Asus Maximus VI Hero is a top notch board that looks pretty cool and offers a gaming oriented design (think of the integrated sound card thats on par with any aftermarket card). You could go for a 100 pound mobo, but you'll lose out on a couple of features that a more powerful SSD might not compensate. To be honest, you wont get much much more performance out of a samsung 840 pro versus the 840. Yes you could do a bigger size, but will you really fill that SSD with 100gb of games (taking in account for the space the OS takes which is just under 20gb)? I'm sure that by the time you do, you'll have enough money to purchase another one.
3. The r9 290x is a monster of a card just a little more expensive than the GTX 780. Keep in mind though that with the release of that card and the GTX 780i, Nvidia already announced a price drop for its 780, 770, and 760 by almost a 100US$ each. That should be noticed in the UK too. It's a tough choice right now and I would advise you to purchase the GPU as the last piece. Im very anxious about the AMD R series card, but since there is so much hype and marketing going on, i'm going to hold my breath and wait till the storm rolls over and a full review of the current GPU has been done.
4. No CPUs will be released until at least late 2014. (to my knowledge and this is mostly on the intel side)
