Hi guys, i am building a new PC and haven't got all of the parts yet, but I have the HDD and i was wondering, if I put it into an old PC, would I be able to save myself the trouble and install everything I want on it? And then when my new PC is built, will I be able to put that HDD in?

Thanks,
Toby

Solution
Yes, you can use that drive in your new computer, but you can't install any programs (including the OS) onto that drive until it's installed in the new computer.

you can use it in the computer but not as a boot drive. You can use it for storage and for getting access to the files on it but you will need to buy a new hard drive and windows to use as a boot drive.

If I have already installed an OS on it, can I just format it and then use it in my new PC and install windows again?
