So I'm looking to upgrade my RAM. So I decided to come to the one place where I feel I can trust peoples opinions and knowledge. I am a gamer. That is what I primarily use my computer for. I will watch HD movies and intend to upgrade to a 3D T.V. Right now my 40in LCD is my monitor. Right now I keep my resolution at 1920x1080. So my questions are: Does the brand of RAM actually matter? How much of a difference is there between 2x8gb vs 4x4gb? And would you suggest I upgrade to 16gb from my current 8gb? If so, what would you recommend? I'm not trying to spend a lot of money, I don't feel this is a necessary upgrade. I would just like that boost.

My current setup is:
AMD FX-8350

G.SKILL Sniper Series 2x4gb DDR3 RAM (I did not read where it said it's optomized for Intel)

All opinions are welcome unless you are an Intel fanboy and you come to bash AMD because it will hold no value to me and will just be wasting everyones time. Thank you in advance.

Honestly if you are solely gaming, then you can save your money and keep the 8GB of RAM, but if you are absolutely deadset on 16GB, then I could go with a 2x8GB set, 1866Mhz, CL9. I can't suggest a specific set because I don't know what cooler you have, and therefore whether you would need LP RAM or if tall heat spreader are ok.

The only cooling I have is the stock cooler on my CPU and the dual 250MM fans on the case:
