Installing new motherboard problem

So today I received a new motherboard (Asus M5A97 R2.0), I installed it and all the fans were up and running but there was no display or beeping noise.

So I took this motherboard out and put in my old motherboard (Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P) and the fans started to run at a high then mid rate but no display and no beep.

Did I break both motherboards?

The Gigabyte motherboard was working fine but it was not compatible with my processor so I got the Asus but now neither board's work..

What may be the problem?

    I have a AMD Radeon HD 7770

I was wondering should I go to a local computer repair shop and get this checked out or just return the ASUS motherboard back to Newegg? I just received the ASUS today
  3. Well, what cable do you have attached to the GPU?
Make sure it is snug in both the GPU and the Monitor

Even though the HDMI and the Dispay Port look similar they are different and it would be good if you could distinguish between them

I am connecting my GPU with a HDMI cable to a monitor. I had an issue when I first installed my GIGABYTE mobo where I would get a beep but no display then eventually the display came up out of nowhere.

But with the ASUS I get no beep/post or display
  10. Wow. Ok. What you probably have is a busted monitor or a busted Graphics card.
What can happen is that you are getting a signal to the monitor but you are not on the right channel. If you monitor has functions try to scroll through them until you get to HDMI.
For example the option you have on your TV:
    HDMI 1 and 2
    Component
    Tv

Its on HDMI 2 which was the same channel that worked for my GIGABYTE mono

Now I reinstalled my old gigabyte mobo and theres no beeps, display, but the fans are spinning really fast but inconsistently

Ok. Without actually being these I have no experience in this, so I would recommend that you either go to your local PC hardware store and have them look at it. Or call your supplier and get a detailed walkthrough.
