My question is, which of this 2 GPUs are better for having in a workstation PC, keeping in mind that the system will be used for gaming also ( for example AC4 )

You can game on Firepros also, and the performance in Maya is way beyond desktop cards, but close in games, although they are more expensive.

A W7000 performs similar to a 7950 in games, but hugely better in professional apps, but obviously that's where the higher cost comes from.

No, I will be using for multimedia purposes, like 3D modelling (Maya, Mudbox), maybe level design ( UDK ), and 2D ( After Effects, NukeX, Photoshop etc ) and rendering.

Thank you for the insight ... problem is a Firepro W7000 is £600-650 and I might get the titan ( evga SC with 2 years + warranty ) for under 600 ( £550 ) .... I already got an evga gtx 690 with 2 years warranty for £530 and I was thinking if the Titan outperforms the 690 when it comes to doing multimedia tasks ( modelling, rendering, VFX ), I might just sell the 690 for the same price or a bit more and grab the Titan
