Can it be used for upgrade from windows 7 home? I am looking at buying a used PC that has windows 7 home, but will want to upgrade. The PC is a 2012 HP Pavilion PC. Window 7 Home Premium, 8GB memory, 1TB Hard drive, CD/DVD writer.

Is this something you purchased or did it come with the Vista computer (a free upgrade after Windows 7 was released)?

If you are going to upgrade from a 32-bit to a 64-bit you will have to do a clean install. One way to find out is to start Windows 7 Home and put the upgrade disc in the DVD drive. It should let you know whether or not Windows 7 Home can be upgraded to Pro or not. However, you may want to consider doing a clean install. Test it first by inserting the disc and see if will allow you to upgrade. Would you be opposed to a clean install?

I don't want to buy the used PC if I cannot use the upgrade that I have. That is the reason for my post. I do not have the PC in my hands to try an install.

No problem, sometimes I try to read so fast that I miss something. Let me know if you find a more definitive answer as I am now curious as to whether or not you can upgrade Windows 7 Home using the Windows 7 Pro upgrade disc.
