I currently have a Fractal Design R4 Case with the fan voltage switch on the front every time i switch it the computer goes to a black screen but everything is still on and working. Just the screen seems to go blank and will not turn on no matter what i do. I have to restart to get it all working again. Previously, I was using a EVGA 750B PSU and it was working fine but i had to replace it due to a Coil whine so i replaced it with a EVGA 750G.

My Build:
Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor. OC to 4.4
Corsair H90 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
1TB WD Green WD10EARS
500GB WD WD500AAKS
Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1GB Video Card
Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case
EVGA SuperNOVA 750W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

Ignore the Video card being old my current video card went in for RMA (R9-280x)

I thought I was having a one off issue with my Fractal Design Arc midi r2 case. I've contacted fractal design and they've sent me a new fan controller but the issue still resides. I've used different fans in 120mm size and have had success with that solution.

I wonder if it's my power supply as well but I don't have an extra to test and will have to hold off on trying that route.

I noticed something when I was on mumble and switching the voltage. I've found that it's ONLY the graphics card that goes unstable when I switch the fan controller. Do you by any chance use a 9800gt?

I've used the integrated graphics on my 4670k and my brother's 570gtx and confirmed that it's ONLY when I use the 9800gt coupled with the supplied 140mm fans that switching the fan controller causes my screen to go black.

Edit: I read you use an HD 5770. I'll give an email to fractal explaining what I found and see if they have any ideas.

I was using a Asus R9-280x Matrix prior to replacing the power supply as well.
The 2 configs i used that worked 750B and R9-280x and the 750B and HD 5770.
I RMA'd the R9-280x before i replaced the power supply for the 750G. I am getting a Sapphire Toxic R9-280x next week so i will see if it works then.

It seems like you are correct about it being only the video card i was on Skype and i could hear everyone and they could hear me and then after a few seconds or another voltage switch it does a crash basically audio goes unstable and i have to restart.

I'm having the exact same problem. If I switch the fan voltage, my screen goes black and the system reboots.

Using...
Rosewill Capstone 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 4GB Dual FTW ACX Video Card

Currently the fan switch is on the same power cord (three molex connections from one cord) as the video card. I'll try to swap that out to test. Anybody had any recent luck fixing it?
