Currently in my system I have a 7870 GHz edition and I want to get bf4 and play on ultra and also have a future proof build. So my question is should I get another 7870 and run crossfire or should I get the 770 since it got a price cut or should I just choose the 280x?

Solution
IMO - don't crossfire another 7870, sell your 7870. Buy a 770, unless you play on a higher resolution than 1080p. You may want the 3gb memory the 280x has to offer.

Yeah, AMD did great creating an affordable and overpowered graphics card, haha.

If your leaf blower isn't on fire sure xD

TBH I was excited that Nvidia had competition again. Competition creates better products from both sides. However... The 290x's cooler is poorly made. Too the point where for 200 dollars more you can get the GTX 780Ti and overclock it to 1000MHz + and it will soar past the 290x.

BUT if AMD ever fixes their campfire in a computer... I would say they're are back in the game. :^)

besides that the heat/sound issues have been fixed with the 3rd party cooling added to these newer cards 1000MHz is nothing. my 2GB 7870 runs @ 1150/1300. it's the way the data is translated that matters most. the 770 seems to be the best midrange card out there I've seen lately. ~$350 for a 770 4GB version. will soon be adding a 770 to a recent build and most benchmarks out there show it blowing 7870GHz Edition away.

Well honestly it's a sad day for our fallen hero AMD. The miners have picked her apart piece by piece til now there is "NO" gaming value "WHATSOEVER" and I hate to say that because I really love what AMD brings to the table. That being said I can't wait my entire life for prices to drop with some cards going upward of 150% MSRP Nvidia is in the best spot they could be in right now. I just recently bought a GTX 770 4gb WF OC for about $390 and plan on buying another in the future (for trimonitor setup). I have never really been on the Nvidia bandwagon but this gives me a chance to see what it's all about. now don't get me wrong I have Nvidia product {GTX 550Ti} and AMD products {HD 7850} but those are quite low range in my opinion compared to the GTX 770 I bought which hopefully should make a lasting impression with Nvidia "We'll see".

The AMD cards shine at higher resolution thanks to their ungodly amounts of Vram, but now that you can buy 4GB variants of Nvidia cards I think AMD is in an awkward place with that as well...
