Okay, so currently i have in 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 (Crucial Brand) RAM. |I am also using Non-ECC i believe because i have 4 RAM slots. My question is, does the 5300 part matter? I know it's the speed, but will my computer handle, lets say, a PC2-6400?
If you put ram rated at faster speeds than your motherboard can handle, your board will under-clock the ram (make it run slower). This can happen automatically or manually by you via the BIOS.
The extra money you spend on faster ram will be wasted.
So i should stick with 5300. Can you tell me what my mother board is compatible with?
I have this:
In CPU-Z under the tab "mainboard" it states this information.
Manufacturer: ELITEGROUP
Model: MCP61P then far to the right it says 1.0
Chipset: NVIDIA MCP61 Rev. A2
Southbridge: NVIDIA MCP61 Rev. A2
LPCIO: ITE
Also, my graphics are NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
