Hi,

I was playing games and suddenly realized some framedrops. I was monitoring my gpu temperature with the fan speed but realized the temperature wasn't increasing. I don't think I changed any settings so that the temperature doesn't increase but this is really frustrating since the performance is really bad now. Is my card broken? or is some setting just set wrong? I'm using a nvidia gtx 780 with evga precision X.

Run a benchmark for the card. In game performance is just a rough measure with many variables. If you are playing online it is likely that the cause is you ISP's connection with the game server. If that is it, there is nothing you can do about it.

I was playing an offline game. Anyways, I did benchmark 3dmark Firestrike extreme and saw a massive drop. 4860 -> 2541.

Looks like a heat issue. The thing is that if a component (think solder joint, resister, transistor, capacitor and the like) has gone bad it may not create enough heat to raise the cards value or trigger the fan to ramp up much. But it can impact the performance. If what your saying is that you start off at 4860 and it quickly drops to 2541 during the run then I would think to return the card for a new one.
