For 3 1080p monitors, the 290x SLI is probably the better choice. The 780 SLI should be more than capable of giving you excellent performance at that resolution but the 290x is supposed to be a bit better, around 10%, than a 780 in higher resolutions. For 1080p or lower, the difference is only a few percent. You will also benefit from the 1GB extra VRAM.

Do you know the release date of the reference coolers of R9 290X? I can't wait longer then 7th November.

Go with the R9 290x since you're targeting Battlefield 4.
Battlefield 4 is optimized for AMD Graphics. In all honesty just go with AMD, plus patience is virtue ;)

Alright, thanks for the help. I will buy it, and I hope I will have some good gaming experience in the future. But do you know when the reference cards of R9 290X comes?

Do you mean the non-reference coolers such as ACX and DirectCU II? They are scheduled to be released late November. http://www.techpowerup.com/193358/non-reference-design-...

The reference card is scheduled to be released in the middle of next month.http://www.eteknix.com/amds-radeon-r9-290x-expected-cos...

Can't wait that long. I've been waiting since august since people on this forum always said "wait for". Enough waiting :3

Well unless you have monster cooling 2 290X cards are gonna get boiling hot.

Soooo my first instinct is take the GTX780s, BUT you would probably be better of with the other cards performance wise.

If you were to go for the 290X, wait for the aftermarket cooled cards from Sapphire / Asus ETC.

EDIT : I see you do not want to wait. Then GTX780 SLI it is.

Overclocking performance is random. You should always buy a card based on stock performance. ie. the 780 has a lot of room for overclocking, the 290x doesn't... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpD_r53qxJc

Thats probably the dumbest comment I've read this year. I could buy R9 280X crossfire for half the price. And the wierd thing is, it performs even better. I will go for R9 290 crossfire :) .

Well, what do you think perform best at 5760x1080p? R9 290 non x crossfire or gtx 780 sli. I'am gonna play on stock clocks :)

Unless you have unlimited cash I would wait for the non-reference R9-290 (non X) reviews and buy 2 of these if the performance is similar to the benchmarks released a few days ago.

I'am pretty tired of waiting. Looks like R9 290 beats gtx 780 in 5760x1080p in Battlefield 3. Would beat it even more in BF4? Don't think you? http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/R9_290/7.html

I think the gap would be similar / slightly bigger in BF4. Don't buy the 290 or 290x with the reference cooler though, it's junk.
