Interested in upgrading to a 2560x1440 display. I am aware that IPS isn't normally recommended for gaming, but there seem to be a fair number of people still using them because of the overall picture quality. I have been burnt by monitors in the past, so I figured I would come here and either look for a recommendation from someone who owns one, or at least get some information one ones that a lot of people have been recommending. If not, I plan on simply going with the new BenQ monitor that seems to be getting a lot of positive attention. I would at least be sure that would be a proper monitor for gaming.

I own an Asus PB278Q, it's a PLS panel (entry level IPS), so you still get all the benefits of an IPS, but it's also quite good for gaming. It has a 5ms response time so you can play FPS on it, however if you are a COMPETITIVE FPS gamer then it's not ideal. So, if you are someone like me who prefers a better image quality instead of a higher refresh rate then go with this one.
BUT. If you decide to go with this resolution, prepare to spend some big money on your hardware. If you want to play BF4, Crysis 3, Metro LL etc. on HIGH-ULTRA then you need at least a GTX780 to keep your frame rate at 60 FPS. So it's a great monitor if you have great hardweare.
