Hi guys,I have a problem I can´t seem to get rid off,I recently bought a new ASUS GTX 760 OC and I got this ghostly flickery horizontal lines on the screen when gaming.I have a full HD 22" LG monitor with only a VGA input.I come from a ZOTAC GTX 560 TI and this such thing didnt use to happen. The lines are there all the time but they are much more noticeable on dark backgrounds making the picture blurry and very annoying. They are greyish and almost look like some kind of interference.I would say it looks more like a hardware issue rather than a software one.

The GTX 760 has four different outputs; HDMI,Displayport,DVI-D and DVI-I (analog) which I think is the only one I can use with my VGA monitor...is that right?? I tried using the DVI-D (digital) output with an adapter instead but not success, just a black screen...I tried V-Sync and adaptive but still the same,I tried to change the VGA cable for a newer one but that didnt fix it,I also tried to overclock the monitor refresh rate (from 60hz to 74hz) from the Nvidia control panel as I thought it could be an issue related to that but no joy.Im thinking of trying with an HDMI to VGA or Displayport to VGA adapator but I dont know if that´ll work, does any one know?

I read on some other forum that this could be due to an incompatibility issue, the GTX 760 might be to powerful for a VGA monitor and that could be the reason of these flickery lines but my monitor is not even one year old so it´s not as if I was using and old crappy one!

Please could someone help me with this annoying problem! I´m getting headaches from looking at my monitor everytime there is a dark background! Does anyone know if a Displayport or HDMI to VGA adapter will work with a VGA monitor??

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for my English,I´m Spanish.

Regards.

You should never overclock your refresh rate as it may damage the monitor. Try these steps to fix the lines:

1. Make sure Vsync is turned on in your game settings.
2. Make sure that your drivers are fully up-to-date.
3. Turn down some settings in your game.
4. Make sure that your computer components are installed properly.
5. Maybe your monitor has just died (these things happen).

Hopefully your problem goes away soon. Goodluck mate :)

Hi Mopkap, thanks for your quick reply,I tried all that,I tried Vsync,I tried to turn down the settings,I even tried with different resolutions,I tried with a different VGA monitor and it still occurs so I dont think my monitor is dying yet...i updated the drivers last night...

Synthwavex I dont know if you are still struggling with is? I am having same problem after upgrading to R9 270, it seems some newer cards have problems on some games with the VGA cable, im no expert so cant explain why, my bro is also having same prob and there are few forums with this issue. The fix is to buy a monitor with HDMI. Sucks aye :( Im trying to find out if HDMI to VGA convertor would fix it....
