Does Displayport to VGA adapter work?

Hi guys,I have a GTX 760 with a Displayport an a 21,5" Full HD LG monitor with only one VGA input,nothing else.

My question is,would a Displayport to VGA cable or adapter work with my monitor? or is it only for digital inputs?

Thanks Ihog,the reason is because when I use the DVI-I output the picture gets some annoying wavey horizontal lines especially visible on dark backgrounds when gaming.Can´t seem to get rid of this problem,tried everything without joy so think Im gonna try using DP output instead.

Do you know if I will get the full HD resolution 1920x1080 when usind DP to VGA??

Thank you, but I figured it out. To answer your question, I was simply trying to find my best option for an adaptor, either DP or DVI. I went with a DP adaptor because DVI does not support sound.

How did you get this working in the end? I am using a GPU with 4x display ports on and trying to use a DP to VGA adapter but get no signal. However if I use a DP to DVI adapter I can get a picture. Is is something to do with the conversion of a digital signal to analog? Perhaps the DP to VGA adapter I have is not an "active one"?
