i am going to buy a new pc rig and i was thinking whther i get the Asus Sabertooth Z87, Gigabyte Z87X-Oc, or the Maximus VI Hero. i will be buying an AMD R9 280X(is this better than 770?) and maybe in the near future buy another one. also planning to get a good surround plus a soundcard. are there any good motherboards at no more than 230 Euro?

The Hero...looked long and hard before deciding on it for my build, did 20 client builds first on assorted mobos, the Hero handles everything, run cool, OCs very well, handles DRAM very well.......and has the ROG FX audio which is great....770 and 280X are sort of a toss, I went with the 280X from Asus, great card

The hero is not neutered compared to others, compared to the formula or rampage it is. Compared to other normal motherboards, it is great. The hero is on a sabertooth level, not what I would consider a rog level board. I have been using rog boards, sence the first rampage, so I know what I am talking about.

Well I've only got 1 1150 Formula build, and 3 Extreme (1150) builds, but the Hero OCs better and at lower voltage, handles DRAM as well as the Extreme (and better than the Formula) , also far better than the Sabertooth on most all accounts (and yes that's not a ROG), but it's one of the better ROG mobos I've built on and have built on about all of them going back to the 13, 15, 17 intro.....if you have a need for more PCI-E slots for tri, quad SLI/XFire then it's not the board for a person. You sacrifice a couple of USb3 ports (replaced with USB2) so no great loss there and a pair of SATA ports, sound is good on both the Extreme and the Hero, otherwise not a lot of difference....Also add it has the best approval rating by users at the Egg of fair selling mobos
