Should i get a CPU with more cores or a higher clock rate?

I can get a 4 core, 4.2ghz for the same price as a 6 core 3.5ghz.

So the question is: More cores or higher clock rate?

Depends on the CPU's in question. Cannot judge on core count and clock speed alone. The architecture of the CPU matters as well.
