Upgrade my laptop or buy a new one?

Hello Everyone, I bought a laptop for $100 off a friend a few months back, good deal if you ask me, Dell Latitude e6420, Intel core i5-2540M, 4 GB 1333 RAM, 300 GB 5400 HDD, built in intel HD3000 graphics, Win 7 Ultimate 64...It's a business laptop from 2011 but it performs good enough. I use it for audio editing, video encoding, photoshop, and as my source of entertainment(music/movies). I was just wondering your opinions of whether I should upgrade to a 1 TB hybrid drive and max out the memory at 8 GB, or just wait it out and save my money for a Haswell system with better graphics? This 14" screen actually works for me as I've gotten used to it and the HDMI output is a better picture than the actual LED screen on the laptop itself. Money is an issue, the upgrade would only cost me $200 so it seems like a logical fit. But I just wanted to know if I wait and buy a 4th gen intel i7 with 8 GB RAM, nicer graphics, etc. for around $1,000, will it be an earth shattering difference? I really appreciate your time and would love some feedback, Thank you!

I don't think you are going to get much nicer looking graphics for 1000 due to LCD resolution. Seems the new standard is 1366 x 768. I don't see much better resolutions until > 1200 and those are few until you get over 1500. No point in upgrading the drive or memory unless you have a specific need to do it.

Thanks for the advice, I should have been a bit more specific. I'm noticing a decent amount of lag while running multiple programs and I really need more space on my hard drive. I just hope getting 8 GB G.SKILL DDR3 will give me the performance increase I need. Also, I wanted to try out the Seagate Solid State Hybrid ST1000LM014 1TB 64MB Cache 2.5" since it's only 119.99, I've read mixed reviews on this product so I'm still searching for alternatives within that price range, but if you have any ideas please let me know.
