Hi I am building a computer for my friend and have run into problems on first start up. The monitor does not find input (motherboard gpu hdmi output). As well as this there is no power to my mouse either. When I turn on the machine all fans are running, dvd rom drives on and motherboard lights. However I hear no beeps from the speaker inside. So far I have unplugged the dvd-rom drives, removed all front panel connectors apart from power switch, rechecked mainboard power connectors (20+4 and 4 pin), reseated ram (same slots), checked cpu heatsink connection ( out of box heatsink with pre-applied thermal paste), rechecked system fan connection, tried another monitor (both monitors work with other pc's).

System specs:
Gigabyte ga-z86ap-d3 mobo
Pentium dual core g2120 3.1ghz processor
4GB (2x2GB) Corsair vengence Black DDR3 1600mhz Memory
1TB Seagate Barricuda 7200rpm HDD
Corsair CX builder series 500W PSU
2x Asus DVD-RW 24X Optical drives
K9-720B Gaming Case ATX

Does the CPU need dedicated graphics? I am expecting a graphics card to add as well : Sapphire 7770 1GB. I was wondering if there were any compatibility issues with the system that I missed.

What else i can try to get this system up and running.

Your help would be much appreciated.

I added 1 stick of ram, keyboard, mouse. had to add gpu as previously had no luck getting motherboard hdmi output to connect to the monitor. added system fan (exhaust fan). Connected monitor to gpu. Turned power on. Still no screen connection, no beep but the speaker does short regular clicks. I then removed the ram and switched back on. The mini speaker was again beeping continuous short beeps. Still no screen. Not sure what to test next.

Its a new board. Numbers after SN are : 120600014487

I have just tried again with a 650w psu out of my working pc.
Mobo pwr 24 and 4 pin, Ram 1 slot,Gpu power connected, cpu fan, keyboard, monitor.
Still no screen, no beeps but clicks.

Removed the ram and again continuous short beep.

The board was manufactured in February 2012 and it might not have the necessary BIOS for supporting Ivy Bridge. I'm afraid that you need a Sandy Bridge CPU for updating the BIOS. Or return the G2120 and buy a supported one.
The CPU Support List: http://www.gigabyte.com.ro/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4015
Or return the board and ask for a more recent one.
1206 after SN stand for:
12 - year
06 - the sixth week of the year.

Thx alexoiu, I shall let you know what happens when I get the board and install it. Im hoping the company I bought the other board from will take it back. They clearly didn't provide enough information in the product description. Something like adding the line:

caution: 3rd generation CPU's may require bios update prior to use.

Thx
