The PC will certainly be more powerful. But a more important question is what games do you prefer? Last time I checked the PS4 has 24 exclusive games announced. Do you prefer the PS4 exclusives or PC exclusives? Do you want to play WoW, or Gran Turismo? To me that's a much more important question.

I prefer pc games and I feel a lot more comfortable with a keyboard and mouse, but the pc would cost me around 1000£ and the console 400£, so I was wondering if the pc is worth 600£ more than a console.

Worth is an individual thing. You could shave a huge amount of cost off that machine if your goal was just to have hardware more powerful than the console. The console is a glorified netbook with a laptop video card glued to the side of it.

Don't forget that PC games are cheaper, and generally on sale. Also you can get many more functions out of a PC. in my opinion that makes it worth it.

A PC is better at everything a PS4 can do and so much more. I personally think it is well worth the extra funds.

Don't forget 7 years of Playstation+ to play PS4 games online = £280

New console games are typically around £10 more than new PC games. If you buy one new game a month that's £120 more a year, times that by 7 years = £840.

Add that to the £400 for the console gives you a PS4 cost of £1520 vs £1000 for PC.

(FYI the PS3 lasted 7 years, that's why I'm using this figure for PS4).

[Assuming the PS4 will last a decade]
(4 Games a Year...) Games = £50 * 4 = £200 * 10 = £2000. Typically you get more than 4 games a year, but that would be up to the user how many games she/he wants.

PS Plus [for 10 years] = £40 * 10 = £400

Actual PS4 = £350

Accessories (Controller, camera, etc..) = £150+

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[PC]
PC = £850 (includes 120GB SSD, i7 4770k, R9 280x, etc....)

[Again, assuming 4 AAA games a year...] Games = £30 * 4 = £120 * 10 = £1250 (and that doesn't even include all the awesome SALES on STEAM!)

No online fee]

Accessories (Gaming mouse and mechanical keyboard..) = £75 or with gaming headset £110

and obviously you won't be able to max out games for all that time so you'll need a upgrade;
GPU Upgrade = £230 (about the same as the 280x)
Your CPU typically lasts a long time; the graphics card is more important, but if you ever do need to (which would be in 4-5 years when you have a LOT of money saved up...) you can get a CPU [same price as 4770k] and mobo for about £250.

The PC has a LOT ahead of itself, Oculus Rift, Steam Box/OS, etc..
And keep in mind that you are getting the superior experience, Ultra, 1080p. etc
Speaking of 1080p, by that time everyone will have 4k monitors, meanwhile..Console players are still rocking 1080p...
If your PS4 fails you have to get a new one so the price may vary, whereas if your optical drive fails, get a new one for £10 lol :p

....And to total it all up;
PS4 = £2900+ (may vary..)
PC = £2580

And that's for 10 years, once that's over you will need to get a whole new system if you get PS4, whereas for PC just upgrade your graphics card lol
And in 2-4 years PS4 will look like a game on lowest settings at a very crappy resolution, and you will be ROCKING 4K at ULTRA :D

I'm stealing this entire post, if that's OK with you Derp? - this is so perfect :)

The number of times I hear "Oh but PC gaming is so much more expensive" and it simply isn't true. PC gaming is much hceaper *cough*humblebundle*cough*.

This doesn't even cover the real value of a PC, which is that that you can, you know, do actual work on it. Try editing an Excel spreadsheet on a PS4, for example.

If you like First person shooters (And strategy games) and super snazzy graphics, cranked up to Max with AA and whatnot, then the PC is the optimal choice. Generally, all your multiplats will look better on your PC than a console. With the release of SteamBox, I think PC Gamers will start to get some really awesome PC exclusive titles (Not that we already don't).

Also, if you like to EDIT video/photos in Vegas and Photoshop, and game at the same time, your PC will do all those things and more.
Just because you're on PC, doesn't mean you can't use a controller on it :)  PS4 controllers are compatible with PS4 at launch, and XB1 compatibility is coming in 2014, as well as the new steam controllers. Generally, PC gamers are more "mature" than console gamers. You can't play a decent game of CoD (or my preference BF) on console without some raging kid shouting "F***K UR MOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM"
PS4 hasn't even launched yet, and the PC is already GENERATIONS ahead.
