Hi, I want to upgrade my current set up so I can play modern games at a decent graphical setting, but I dont want to go crazy and spend loads and play ultra graphics setting, that doesnt bother me so much.

My current set up is:

CPU: 3.60 gigahertz AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670

Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M5A78L-M LX V2 Rev X.0x

RAM: 8Gb

I would like to get some advice on what I should upgrade first and any possible suggestions on what I can upgrade to.

Thanks

I suggest overclocking the 4100 a bit. Even though it is a bulldozer, it is still a fairly capable gaming CPU when OC'd.

The 6670 is likely your weak spot. With the new Radeon R series cards released/renamed/rebranded, prices will likely be coming down.

First, I'd upgrade yout GPU to something like a GTX 760 or HD 7950.

Then I'd upgrade your CPU later on to an FX 6300.

Just bear in mind, your motherboard has no cooling on the VRU mosfets, so don't go crazy with your OC. Consider upgrading the motherboard and CPU at the same time.

thanks for the quick response.

the motherboard is something im not so sure about. is it compatible with the components you suggested? is the lack of cooling when i am overclocking the only thing i need to be concerned about with my current motherboard? also my power supply is 500W, is that ok, or should i think about upgrading it too?
