Asus M4A78LT-M LE memory overclock help please

Greetings!

Please help me with the following;

I just got myself a decent pair of Corsair Vengence DDR3 8GB sticks at 1600MHz. My Asus M4A78LT-M LE does not post when I place those sticks in :( . I've read on this forum that it is an OC issue.

So, I've tried OC'ing in the BIOS to match what the memory is. Please see link with the images for the BIOS, memory & CPU-Z screenshots. Also included are screenshots of current memory at 1333MHz that works fine.

What I am missing? :??:

Thank you in advance.

So when you say does not boot you mean load windows?
Have you tried leaving BIOS on Auto with the sticks in?

if you look at the spd there is up max to 685 and not 800 also got the same series of motherboard and other maker memory sticks and could not set to work at 1600 without bsod amd restriction on this .

@rolli59: No post. So, with the new sticks I can't even get the mobo to post.

@scout_03: I guess you are recommending that I return these sticks and just get some 1333MHz in return! Correct?

Try resetting CMOS before booting with the new sticks.

Do I need to set the voltage to 1.5? Or just the HT @ 1600 & MemClock @ 800 are sufficient?

You should not need to mess with HT while configuring the ram. Just set the memory speed and timings and if still not working then slightly increase voltage.

you do not need to send them back system wont made them work at 1600 even if you try other maker motherboard restriction with amd cpu on these board model .

I do appreciate all the help guys...

I am at my wits end on this. Please take a look at the link below.

The Link!

With all the correct timings, and increasing the voltage to 1.62, I still could not get the mobo to post/the memory to work.

Am I missing something?

Nope, the new sticks do not work with any configuration. :pfff:

However, when I pop-in my standard 1300 sticks, the mobo posts & Windows works. So I know the issue is with the new sticks!

Any BIOS update for your board?
Then again did you try them one at a time, could be bad ram.

Your Athlon prob can't carry 1600 sticks, try starting with 1333, 8-8-8-24, 2T and DRAM voltage a t 1.6 and give it a try

Yes sir! Did try the sticks one at a time and no dough! :pfff:

BIOS update? ASUS's update service is not working for me, at least not for my mobo. It just keeps connecting & disconnecting.

ok, so I'll set the mem. speed to 667Mhz, and the respective timings you mentioned, and the voltage. But what is the setting "2T" ? :??:

Thanks again!

for your cpu you need the 503 bios from it memory bug correction then the 801 another memory and stability correction the last 803 for system http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A78LTM_LE/#support

No mas guys!!! :pfff:

Here is what I tried....link

And again, no post. I'm afraid to up the voltage higher than 1.62, just in case I end up frying my older 1333 sticks.

A BIOS update may certainly be in order!

Ok, I can try that timing too. But, that's not the timing listed on the memory. Please see this.

Yep, I know what you are talking about. What I have is an 8GB kit with 2x 4GB sticks.

Forgot to mention earlier, that I have tried both the sticks & they both give me the same "no post" result.

if you could try them in another system to see if they will work could be defective memory sticks .

Guys, I have not flashed this mobo, ever. So, it still has the factory BIOS on it. I don't have a floppy on this PC. So, I just need to go the USB route. Will update & try the 1333 custom timings again & post here.

Thanks again!

Guys! You rock! I updated the BIOS to 803, plugged in the sticks, set the timings manually, left the voltage to auto & BOOM! :bounce:

It works! I'm giddy with all this RAM! :pt1cable:

Thank you rolli59, Tradesman1, and scout_03. :ange:
