FreeSpace 2 alike fresh game 2013 ?

anyone seen anything as good in 2013? FS2 bring tears such a good game

FreeSpace 2 is still probably the best space combat sim out there, mainly because most developers won't even touch that genre anymore. There have been a few new entries from indie developers in recent years, but they aren't as good as FreeSpace 2 and don't really have anywhere near the scope of FreeSpace 2, these would include games like Sol: Exodus or Strike Suit Zero. There is the upcoming X Rebirth, but if its anything like its predecessors, it's a game more focused on trading and creating a commercial empire in space, though there are fighters in the game if you want to just shoot stuff. It is also a game that is very hard to get into, limited tutorials and not easy to start. We'll also see how Star Citizen pans out, but it isn't going to launch until 2015 so it's a ways off.

If you want something fresh that is like FreeSpace 2 these days, all you can really do is play some of the user generated content for the game, that is still coming out, or play some games that are based off the FreeSpace 2 engine like Wing Commander Saga or Diaspora, which is a standalone Battlestar Galactica total conversion for FreeSpace 2.

Yeah I found fs2 open, lots and lots of mods, hi res etc. Cool stuff just had a go now will play more tomorrow
