Asus Z87-A vs MSI Z87-G45

Hey i will be buying my new gaming pc in a few days. I'm wondering which of the two motherboards i should go with. I've heard that asus are better and i was going to go with that but the msi one comes with a free cooler master Seidon 120M Water Cooler!!!

So whats your opinion. there around the same price...btw I will have an i7 4770k so I'm guessing having that water cooler will do me good!!!

  1. Asus without a doubt.
MSI should be you last option as it has poor Quality Control and support.

    1-Asus
    2-AsRock/Gigabyte
    3-MSI

even though it comes with a 50 euro cooler?
  3. Even though it comes with gold coins (I'll throw the board away and keep the coins) :)
  4. I know they have some extreme cooling here but, MSI motherboard did break some world records recently.

Check to see how close you live to a Microcenter. They have the cheapest prices on CPUs/Mobos

It looks like it was MSI vs MSI which isn't really a competion.

However,if you are talking about OCing, the current world record holder is Asus with some ~9 GHz OC on a AMD cpu.

Asus z87-A is far much better than the msi z87-G45.
  6. But also don't forget the MSI board has integrated Sound Blaster Cinema and Killer Ethernet while the z87 A doesn't have either features. Both these features on the MSI board are beneficial in gaming.

    although

MSI's boards have some QC issues

I would personally go with the Asus Z87-A to be safe
  7. Quote:
integrated Sound Blaster Cinema and Killer Ethernet

These are NOT essentional for gaming.
But quality control/support and OCing is more important for gaming, which are sincerely offered by the Asus.

but i still cant handle the fact that i would be getting a 50 euro cooler master liquid cooler for free with the msi mobo!!! and i would also save about 35 euro!!!

    I said "beneficial" not essential
    ben·e·fi·cial
    adjective
    1.
favorable or advantageous; resulting in good.
  10. What's the use of that water cooler when the board itself is poor at handling your cpu??? That'll be a waste.
Get the Asus mobo and later a cheap CM hyper 212.

    absolutely necessary; extremely important

I have an MSI MB that I am very happy with and MSI has excellent support, in my opinion.

  13. I'll agree with others, I won't touch MSI mobos for builds, as is have to many problems with them trying to fix tham, and end up having to replace with Asus, the Rock of GB, and if the liquid cooler is a H80 or lower would be better off with a Hyper 212 EVO anyway

Anyway we still both agree the Asus z87-A is the better choice

    Agreed.
  16. After a BIOS update my haswell temps dropped with the MSI GAMING 45. Im not sure but I think the ASUS board has the old ALC889 audio as compared to ALC1150 on other boards.
As far as that record goes. How you going to talk about AMD OCs when their clearly going with Intel. If you go ASUS, get a ROG board,
  17. with one is a better bang for your buck ASUS Z87-K or MSI Z87 - G45 ?

HERE is a side by side comparo on Newegg. The MSI has more and better features but the Asus is cheaper. You decide.

Why buy an i7 when an i5 will prolly suit your purposes adequately? Likewise, why buy 16 GB of RAM when most ppl only need 8 GB? All of this with a lesser featured MB. The 620 bundle doesn't make much sense to me.
