DX9 causing PC to enter Power Save Mode

I have tried 2 DX9 games (Smite and DoTA2), and both made my PC enter power save mode upon startup.
Recently got all new parts for my pc, including a new hard drive with clean windows install.
It is not hardware related.
Just tried Just Cause 2, and it worked fine (Is a DX10 game).
Any idea what might be happening?

Yes! Your PC seems to go into Power Save Mode when opening a game using DX9 :p

Jokes aside, try disable Power Save Mode by pressing the windows button and advancing through "Power Options" into the advanced options or just enable the high-performance power-plan instead of the one you're currently using.

Yeah, did all that before.
But it seemed to fix it when I DLed that DX10 game and played it, because when I went back and tried the other games it just worked.
Mystery forever I suppose.
