Since upgrading to Win 8.1 a proxy authentiation window appears

I have recently upgraded from win8 pro to win 8.1 pro.
I connect to several networks during my normal day and until this upgrade I never had a problem. Now, a proxy authentication window appears frequently. The networks I connect to don't have proxy servers. If I just wait between 1 or 2 minutes, the computer will finally connect to the internet.
I want to disable this proxy authentication window and connect as fast as I connected before.

Give the Fixit for resetting your Internet Explorer proxy settings a whirl:

Your proxy or firewall settings may need a mild adjustment post-8.1. Check your browser settings (depending on what browser you use) and look around under Tools>Advanced>Network>Settings>Connections. Be sure "Direct Connection to the Internet" is selected.
