There's no link.
However, the numbers simply explain the given wattage on each rail, so eg +12V x 44A =528 Watts on that rail so that you can work out whether you have enough power for certain components, The +12V rail powers the most power hungry components, so this is what a lot bof people look at, as well as just the overall wattage eg 550W.

anyway, I'm just curious if I can get away with the cheaper one (the 500m) in a build with an i5 3470, a radeon 7870xt and four fans (3 case fans and one cpu fan) or if I need the beefier 600m to power all these things while gaming.

From the links you sent, they are both $69.99 at Newegg ($49.99 after rebate), so I would go for the 600W one, to allow for plenty of overhead, though the 500W will be sufficient power.

I think one of them is cheaper on another website, but if you think the 600w one would provide some overhead, I'm fine with paying a couple extra dollars. Thank you!
