Hello, i've been trying to connect a pair of speakers, but when i do, nothing pops up saying it did. I checked on playback devices (Right Click on speaker icon -> Playback devices) And it says that speakers are not connected, instead it displays "Realtek Digital Audio Output". The computer emits the sound through there , but won't detect speakers.

What should i do?

Get a new MOBO? Anything to do to check? Thanks

What motherboard do you have? Try Uninstalling the audio driver and reinstalling it.
My audio drivers often stop working experiencing the same problems so what worked for me may work for you if not
I will have a deeper look at your hardware if you can provide me with your motherboard name.

Hope this helps!

Asus Realtek are problematic, you said "until now" have you reinstalled them after your problem started? if not reinstall or I would suggest looking at the settings in the Realtek programme by searching for realtek and then press settings if your win8 but then check that it has detected them by unplugging them and plugging them in again. Also check your motherboard manual to ensure you are using the correct ports and ensure your speakers are correctly powered if they need to be.

I have reinstalled the drivers twice since the problem started, since the computer is brand new (Self Built). I currentyl use windows 7, and unpluggin and plugging it in again didn't work. Also tried with a pair of headphones and didn't detect them either? Should i replace the mobo?

I would not be too quick to replace it but as you said its new there's no reason not to contact Asus and ask about the problem and if they cant suggest a fix you can send it in for RMA and they will fix it or replace it as long as the warranty has not been voided on it

Remove the front audio header.
The front audio header must match with the audio mode in the bios for it to work. If it's label as AC-97, then go into bios and change from HD-Audio to AC-97. Save bios and exit.
Install drivers and try again.
Optional: Download the latest universal Realtek HD Audio drivers from www.realtek.com.tw

been looking at your board user manual first when you gone have check if the stand by power led is on then the post state led or cpu led is on then dram led after the epu one and the epu after the boot device led and finally the gpu led ,also that the memory are in a2 and b2 ,following this the os drive should be in sata 1 for the audio part there are settings in the bios for ac 97 or azalia hd front panel connector so the default is hd for azalia .to finish what you have for beep code and in last resrt see the direct key function in the manual .find all this in the motherboard user manual .
