I recently bought a Razer Orbweaver Stealth Edition. I've been using it for 3 days now in FPS, MMO and RPG games. It's been a pretty rough 3 days. I am slowly getting used to it but I find that some of the keys (especially 1 and 5) are hard to reach compared to my keyboard. Having to stretch my hand out further is straining my arm and hand. I was previously using a Dell membrane keyboard, so I am going from a membrane keyboard to the mechanical orbweaver. For those who are using the Orbweaver, how long does it roughly take to fully get used to it? And when you get used to it, is it better than a gaming keyboard?

The main reason I bought the Orbweaver over the Tartarus is for the top row of keys. I plan on playing MMO games more frequently next year and the top row of keys are essential for me.

p.s. I have the hand and palm wrest set all the way forward.

I too had a Tartarus and returned it for an Orbweaver because I wanted that extra row of keys. I've got mine extended almost all the way to fit my huge mitts.

Sounds like you may have a case of small hands ( though small in my eyes is relative. ) Remember the keys are laid out in a grid, not the offset rows of keyboards. This means the corner keys may be a little farther away then you may be used to. When using mine, my hand does shift around just a little bit when hitting the corner keys. However my fingers are still fairly curled when they're resting on the home row, so it's not a big stretch. If you've got that thing as compact as it will go and you're still stretching, I'm not sure there's much you can do about it.

I know it's not ideal, but you could try using multiple keymap profiles and switch between them so you don't have to use keys that might be a little out of reach. I usually use the thumbpad to swap profiles on my games and then double up key usage ( I have yet to go over three levels of keymaps, though. )
