I am getting a power supply for my machine i am building. I am wondering if the 1000W Cooler master Gold certified power supply is too much for what its worth of $215? If that's the case can you point me towards a 1000W gold or platinum psu worth the price? Thanks in advance!

Can you tell us what your entire build is so we can determine the amount of power required? (In most cases, people don't need more than a 650W, but we still need to know what your building.)

Hard to say how much wattage you need without knowing the specs of your rig. But assuming you do need 1000W, you can get the XFX ProSeries 1000W 80 PLUS Platinum cheaper than that Cooler Master PSU.

^ This. If you really need 1000 watts you can do better than a Coolermaster unless it's the new V series. The V series is made by Seasonic and really the only top quality power supply line with the Coolermaster name on it.

Recommended wattage for systems with pretty much any GPU setup.

With a single GTX 780 go with a quality 600w-650w unit. If you plan on adding a second GTX 780 get a 850w-900w unit.

If you are in the US this is an amazing deal. The Seasonic SS-660XP2 is $79 after rebate and promo code. This is an even better version of the Seasonic X series and is one of, if not the best power supply line on the market. 80 Plus Platinum and fully modular.

Honestly that is such a good deal I am going to order one myself. I need a new one and this unit is usually ~$150+

This is likely a very limited time offer so if you can jump on it I would do it tonight.
