The title pretty much says it all but I am just shopping for a new pc under $500 and I am looking at barebone kits at tigerdirect and I found an amd fx-6100 kit and I was wondering what the intel equivalent of this kit would be
also the pc will be used for the time being for surfing the web and typing microsoft documents until I can afford a graphics card suitable for gaming
Also, if you were thinking of it, don't go with the FX 6100. It's an AMD Bulldozer CPU which was a bit of a flop to say the least. Go with a piledriver AMD cpu if you're thinking of going that way, so the FX 43xx, 63xx, or 83xx.
If you could provide more info of what's in the kit it would be helpful.
i suppose some pentium g2020 would sorta stand in as one... but then the pentium would be faster on a single thread level and the fx6100 would be faster in multithread environments. That said... please don't go with bulldozer. bulldozer represented a step backwards in chip performance from phenom II. it might be a 6 core but it's a slow 6 core.
if you're looking for a $500 rig and plan down the road for a gpu for gaming here is a suggestion...
