770 for next gen games? Or would it be worth investing in a 780

I was tempted to get a 770 to upgrade form my 6870, however I've been reading that 2GB VRAM might not be enough when it comes to next gen games. So I looked at the 4GB version but have also read that the 770 doesn't have enough power to actually use the 4GB VRAM.

So would a 780 be worth the extra cost for some "future proofing"?
Have I been misinformed about the 770 4GB can it actually use the full 4GB when needed & be a better price/performance card?

Just would like to note I did consider a 280x and was set on getting it but the Holiday bundle comes with the Nvidia cards which would be saving me some money so I am set on a 770/780.

Any input would be great

I was in the same boat, but I just went ahead and grabbed a 780 when they dropped the prices. But a 770 wouldn't do you wrong either. The 4GB might prove useful in upcoming games as a lot of people reported the BF4 beta using close to or more than 2GB of vram and Bf4 recommends at least 3GB. More games might take advantage of the extra vram in the future. It depends on if you want to spend the extra money on a 780, the HOF and Lightning Versions can outperform a titan when OC'd
