Hi

As the title indicates, the question is pertaining between the Toxic and Dual-X (and possibly Vapor-X should that be viable in the question) versions of the Sapphire R9 280X.

What I would like to know is: is it really worth the extra cash to get the Toxic edition, or is the performance and cooling on the Dual-X and Vapor-X editions close enough to the Toxic performance and cooling to justify saving an extra 40-50$

Thanks.

The main differences between the Toxic and the Vapor-X is a better chance of a higher binned chip, slightly higher factory overclock(which is useless) and out of the box eyefinity support without the need for an active adapter.

Not worth the cost difference. I personally prefer the Dual-x due to the fact that the Vapor-X is often voltage locked and the VRMs not of that high quality.
The main difference between the Vapor-x and Dual-X is noise, the Vapor-x is a little quieter but cools the same.

Dual-X anyday, rest all are marketing scams.

I would not go that far acid1drinker. :)

But yes, a lot of marketing involved and Dual-X provides all one needs.

So essentially, just get the Dual-X coz the other editions give about the same performance, but are either slightly quieter or with slightly better cooling?

Pretty much what is relevant to most people, yes. Except for the cooling part. Thats pretty much the same across all of those. :)

I have had all 3 HD7950s, which is VERY similar than a 280X.

I ended up just keeping 1 x Dual-X and 1 x Toxic(that I got on promo).
I hated the Vapor-X because it was voltage locked.
