Which of the crossfire setups would be better (I don't care about price):
3 x R9 280x
OR
2 x R9 290x?
I play a few games and do high res 3D rendering

More about : 280x 290x

The first one of course. 3 is always better than 2 ;)
Also, if you ever want to compare GPUs, you should check out this site: www.gpuboss.com

Wow that kind of money spent on cards that are re badge! Dont get me wrong im a AMD fan but maybe you should wait and see what the r cards offer to the cards before them do and buy based on that conclusion.

never do that!
always pick the higher cards, as they provide more upgrade potential.

later you can add another r9 290x.
dont go with 3x 280's

Man how cheap the graphics cards in the US!?
In Australia we pay like $400+ for R9 280x!
and $650+ for R9 290x!
