Upgrading my GPU on current pc

Hi guys, first time posting here. So I want to upgrade my 3 year old pc but I have several things that I am unsure of.
Current Build:
CPU: Athlon II x4 630
GPU: Sapphire HD5670
RAM: 6GB
PSU: thermaltake 500w
HDD: 1 X 500GB and 2 X 1TB
DVD drive: Samsung something

MB: MSI something
Fans: I think 5 or 6.

Sorry if I cant remember the exact detail of some of the components, I'm at work so I can't check.

I plan to upgrade my GPU HD5670 to a r9 280x but I am not sure if my power supply will be enough to power the new GPU. I did some research and the R9 280x requires a min of 500w but then again, my PSU is over 3 years old and the power it gives may be less. Also, I looked at the specs of my PSU and it only give around 400w of total power output(I don't know why they call it a 500w PSU). 276w on the 12v and 130 on the 5v and 3.3v. So should I upgrade my psu to a 600w or 700w PSU or is the 500w enough.

Also, I'm not sure but I think my CPU will cause a bottleneck. Should I also upgrade my CPU?

280 could be overkill..??........ what is your monitor resolution?

need to know exact model ps...please give link.

need to know what exact mobo.......... cpu may have to go.

what is your budget?

My current monitor has a max resolution of only 1440X900(yeah I know, it sucks). I plan to upgrade to a 1920x1080 resolution monitor. My budget, I'm not sure, maybe below 800~900$ I'm from a third world country so most of the components I buy have a $20 price difference compared to the U.S

I'll give the exact detail of the components once I get home.

For PSU yes. You need new.

This gives you over 620w for 100% load.

If you want CF later then take 800-1000w psu.

Other good PSU's are seasonic "X" and "G"
XFX and corsair RM is maybe good buy too.

CPU is good to upgrade too.

I know it's kind of stupid but it will hurt less

Hi. Yes you can. As long ur cpu and mobo works. Sure you can use them. But you want to upgrade them when you get new gpu.

So I just basically created a new build since most of my components are being replaced. I was hoping that my current build will last another year but I cant play the most recent games. saints row 4 and metro are lagging and if GTAV comes out on the PC, My current build would probably burn.

IMO 700w is not good buy. Go to 800w or take small 550-600w good psu.
700w is not really enough for CF highend gpu's.
Now you can look cheap 800-1000w deals. Best Iv seen in couple weeks are 100$ for 1000w psu.
