It began yesterday when I was trying to install some games on steam when my PC crashed, I tried to restart it and it told me there was a serious problem and to plug in my Windows 7 disc. After I did that I launched repair on the disc and it told me to restart my PC. I restarted it but then it wouldn't boot up Windows. It stays stuck on starting Windows, yet isn't frozen as the logo still flickers on the screen. I troed to launch startup repair but it said an unexpected I/O error has occured, starus 0xc00000e9. It said "This error can be caused by unplugging a remivable storage device, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM." It tried to launch windows in safe mode yet windows stops at Classpnp.sys and I am no longer able to launch the disc even if I F12 the CD drive. I remember having had (before I launched the disc) a "Error code 2000-0142".

Ok so after I inserted the new disk and made my pc boot cd drive first, it didn't load but automaticly shut down. When I turned it back on it was fixed ! Kind of a accidental/voodoo solution but it's working !

I've recently installed a game via Steam too and I had the exact same problem. I tried about 6 times to turn on my laptop, but it wouldn't boot up. I had no alternative but to CTRL ALT DEL and log off and try again. Eventually, it worked and now I'm trying to find a solution. Surely it can't be coincidence that we both used steam the last time we were on the computers?
