Trying to restore to defaults after windows 7 was corrupted. Startup repair didn't work, would not let me repair install so trying to factory install but keeps getting hung on installing cleanup 27/28. A few months out of warranty so cannot get any assistance from emachines.

Use hirens boot cd.
You will want to run the manufacturers diagnostics on the hard drive. Memtest can be run for ram.
