Hi, I have all the parts ready to build apart from the GPU! But I am eager to test all is well and start using. Is it possible to do this and put GPU at later date? And if so, apart from putting the GPU in what else would I have to do to do this? Thanks for any help

Solution
Yeah the i5 4670k has iGPU, so you can build your system and use the iGPU until you get your dGPU later. You should be fine testing it out and running it until you can afford to get a dGPU.
Give us your complete parts list and we could help you better. Normally if you have an integrated GPU you should be able to build you system and test it. Then at a later date you could add the GPU that you want to your system and be good to go.

OK thank you for your answer! However, I've also just discovered another dilema, I don't have the optical drive, so does that mean I can't put OS (win7) on and so I can't test it out?

You can put the OS on a flash/thumb drive if you like, but if you already have the OS on a DVD you will need to be able to put the DVD into another system and create the OS boot drive with that PC and the flash/thumb drive. You can also just buy a DVD drive for around $20 at just about any online retailer or even from Walmart, Office Depot, or the like.
