My internet keeps disconnecting but for my laptop only?

Right I have a ACER Aspire E1-571 laptop which I bought under 3 months ago and ever since about 2 months ago, my Wi-Fi internet connection is acting really strange but only on my laptop so I don't think it has anything to with my ISP (BT). (Wi-Fi works fine with all other devices)

For example, quite often I get an error on Chrome which says:

Unable to access the network:
The connection to www.google.co.uk was interrupted by a change in the network connection.
Check your Internet connection.
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems or other network devices you may be using.
Error code: ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED

This pretty much prevents me from using the internet at all, as I can't even load a page. In fact this exact error happened to me in a different tab whilst typing this question, it is so frustrating. The weird thing is my laptop still says I'm connected to the internet and gives me a full 5 bar connection. I'm really confused, annoyed and frustrated.

Please someone help me.
Thanks.

EDIT - I thought it might be worth noting I'm using Windows 8 and my router is (apparently) a 802.11n type. I should also add I have no idea what that means and also if you answer please use terms a non-computer expert can understand as I am not too familiar with some language I have seen in other answers.

EDIT (2) - Sorry if I seem like a complete noob, (I am) but could someone also tell me what ipconfig/ release and ipconfig/ renew do?

EDIT (3) - I just remembered, I somehow managed to jam a Memory Stick Duo in a SD card reader, thinking it would read and it obviously didn't. This was at around the same time my problems started, I'm fairly sure this has something to with it. Thoughts? Fixes? Anything?

Thanks again.

There was a new release of the Windows 8.1 which could've caused some of your Wireless card drivers to go buggy (happened to me as well). Make certain that you reach the laptop manufacturer (Acer) for the latest Win 8.1 Wireless Driver and try again.

Also Wireless signal go from old to the newest a/b/g/N. You router can out the highest signal (N), if your laptop can receive it (according to their website your laptop can receive the following IEEE 802.11b/g/n)

Best luck.

Or it could be this as well

Maybe your phone is throwing it out of whack.
