7950 or 760 (I know a generic question)

So yeah,I have looked up the benchmarks and found that the 7950 w/boost, the one i'm thinking of getting is slightly better than the gtx 760 according to benchmarks. However, the 760 perfroms much better in battlefield 3 @ ultra settings. I would choose the 760 without a hesitation, or well, without nearly as much. But due to AMD's mantle being introduced I'm not sure, I would plan on overclocking he 7950 to 7970 speeds and above, but I am new to pc gaming, and have heard a lot of talk by nvidia and their fanboys. sheerly based on what I want I would get the 760 just because nvidia seems like the graphical power house and I would be very elitest and proud about owning one, however the 7950 is a great card too, so it all really boils down to how the hell is mantle going to effect this. I have to say I am a tad annoyed with AMD as could they not take a snippet of a simple game and introduce mantle to it, and see the performance increase? Surely that wouldn't be too difficult, (yeah sure suddenly I know how difficult coding is!) but it's just that this mantle lark has fallen right in the middle of when i'm putting together parts for a pc. I know there's an update in December for bf4, but what specific date? If its at least a week before the 25th I can wait and make my mind up after the mantle results. Yes I understand that nvidia has physx but to be honest I really dont care that much, a game should look good enough I don't need physx to suddenly say holy ---- this game looks great. Gsync i'm not too sure what it is or how it improves performance. Also, I dont care for fanboys or elitests, so I want a non-bias fully informative opinion weighing up the pros and cons of the 760, 7950 and both brands in general. I also know amd worked with Dice on bf4 so can someone please tell me how that affects performance, e.g. link me to a 760 vs 7950 in bf where the 760 outperforms, but due to amd working with dice in bf4 the 7950 is pulling ahead etc.

Also, these cards are pretty much identical in rice, the 7950 is a whopping £4 more so yeah...

Also, this is my last but more general, naive question, should I wait until the christmas period to order the parts for my pc, as will the prices drop on amazon, or do Amazon not really do that with graphics cards and non-festive stuff, i suppose that is really just general knowledge or experience

Really at the end of they day you can not go wrong with either card. Waiting may get one of them cheaper but changes are some cards will be on sale before holiday season.

I own a Sapphire 7950 and have OC'd it to compete with the 770. But yea, either card is great. AMD has typically been putting the 7950 on sale for sub $200 as well

So do you guys think I should wait until Christmas is here for the the cards to go on sale, and would they go on sale? I think I would get which ever one is cheaper, but I'm still leaning on the side of amd, it's the uncertainty of how their api is going to perform!

They've been doing it the past few weeks to help rid stock. Now that the new R9/R7 series is here I do not know if they will keep doing it.

3 weeks ago you could get 3-4 7950 under $200 after MIR, last week there was 1 for $180 after MIR today there is none under $235 http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/video-card/#c=71&sort=a5
It is a matter to monitor prices and recognize a good deal when in front of you.
I just bought a 7950 for $199 after MIR 3 weeks ago, when I got it it went as low as $179 for two days then up to $239 and still has the same $30 mail in rebate on it.

Do you think the prices will drop around Christmas time? I sure hope so!
