NETBEUI is a networking protocol which was quite popular (both in DOS and Windows 3.xx) before TCP/IP. Depending on the computer' configuration, there could be shared folders, so local data could be compromised through the network.

But - DOS viruses were "novel" like 20 years ago, when networking wasn't so popular. I doubt there are "modern" viruses targeting MSDOS (although there might be some exploits available in the DOS network layer itself).

Not as bad as modern network protocols as it doesn't normally work through routers.

But if it piggy backs of TCP/IP then your as vulnerable as any other network protocol.

Thanks for the comments. NETBEUI is the lone protocol with no other external connectivity such as the web. The scenario is a database environment written to the DOS 6.22 OS. Data is input at a central node and "pushed" out to other nodes to display a schedule much like a bus schedule worldwide. I understand malware can be introduced through a tainted 3.5' floppy disk/drive to a specific workstation but it is my belief that NETBEUI would not allow the malware to proliferate to other workstations as it is not routeable.
