Virus or Malware from simply connecting to wi-fi

While I believe that is possible, I have a more different possible case. Say you were to connect a Nintendo 3ds to your wifi, and inside the 3ds SD card is some sort of malware. Is it possible for that malware to transfer to the computers in the house if they use the same wi-fi signal?

I am unaware of how Nintendo 3DS shares the SD card.

But in either way, there are only two methods through which the virus can spread:

1 - The SD card is visible from other computers, and can therefore be read. If it can be read, it can infect the computers reading it.

2 - If the virus is directed at Nintendo 3DS systems and can take control over the device. By doing this, if the 3DS has enough permissions on the computers in the network, it can write to their disks and infect them.
