I have AMD a4 5300 (trinity apu), MSI A75 mbo with 8gb 1600mhz ddr3, and just bought HD 6870 graphic card...
Gaming is good, i run GTA IV & BF bad company 2 on highest resolution (vsync, 1x and those shit off, details high), but i am not very happy with fps, fraps shows around 22-31 (pretty nice smooth and playable), and when i try to record it drops to 15 and it's too laggy to enjoy it :/
Even on 720p bfbc2 framerates are the same!
Ok Hitman absolution runs on 40-50 fps because (closed world, small map?), when recording drops to 22-30 (thats fine), so is that a sign of cpu bottleneck?

What's wrong? Is my cpu really so weak? 3.4/3.6 ghz dual core 1mb L1/L2 cache, what else should i do? The best cpu i can get on FM2 is Athlon 750/760k and i don't think it is much greater than what i have, but i'm not an expert but more cores doesn't equals WIN, only crysis3 can utilize 4 cores, and even some 8 core FX is weaker in tests than some 4core FX, im just wondering coz my friend say he runs bf3 on 90fps, and bfbc2 45fps with that card, he has 3,4 quad core phenom am2+, how is that cpu greater? I has ddr3 unlike his ddr2 speeds!

What results do you guys with 6870 get?

Recording is CPU-intensive, so the performance drop when recording is due to the very weak CPU (2 slow cores, no L3 cache). That lower resolution doesn't help FPS also points to a CPU bottleneck.

You are being severly limited by your processor. Dual cores are good for everyday tasks, but right now a quad core should be conidered entry level for any type of serious gaming. Add in the fact that you are trying to record which takes processing power and you are limiting yourself even more. No matter what going up to a quad core will help because at least you will have more cores to handle your recording while the others are still being utilized fullly for gaming. There are plenty of quad core socket FM2 processors (I run an A8-5500 in my server). Upgrade to a quad core chip and you should get a nice boost. Even if a game cant take advantage of all available cores (i run an 8 core 8350 and no game uses all cores yet), I've found that having the extra cores helps due to as many background tasks as run in windows, and there are plenty of games beside Crysis 3 that can use 4 cores.

You have a $54.99 CPU, you really can not expect a powerhouse for that money.

Yeah as i player i noticed little lag only when i try recording with fraps or !action.... Otherwise sole gaming is great lot of games run on ultra smoothly...
well... guess 750k it is... (trinity A10 equal without graphic)

I would like to go with FX but also replacing mbo is $ over my head.....

Twice as many cores, potential for overclocking. Should be a solid upgrade. It's like an FX-4300 minus the L3 cache.

I just read about FM2+, they did that 2 covered pin thingy on purpose! That is some sick shit with FM1/FM2 dieing so soon, i can throw those mbo's in the trash bin because of low choice of weak processors....so i am limited to 750k max..... and i am not to happy about that one it would still hold back on me recording at 1080p+webcam....

Makes me wanna go intel... are those guys assholes too about mbo/cpu socket compatibility?

Intel changes sockets more than AMD...
