Hi, just finished building my pc, and when I turn it on the motherboard makes a beeping sound, it's about 2 seconds long and stops for about half a second in between beeps. I have removed parts individually to see if I could identify what was causing the problem, the beeping only stops when I plug out the 8-pin cpu cable from the motherboard, iv double checked the cpu everything is in properly so I don't know what's causing the problem. Any ideas?

Thanks.

SPECS:

MOTHERBAORD- gigabyte 78lmt usb3.
CPU- amd fx 6300.
PSU- corsair cx600.
GPU- amd radeon 7950.
RAM- Samsung 8gb ddr3 (2*4).

Well it would do if you pulled the 8pin 12v out.

So what is the two second beep followed by another short one.
Well that 8 pin 12v supplies extra power to the cpu, and also about 74w of power to the Pci-e graphics card express slot of the board.

What does it mean, the graphics card is not seated right in the slot.

Or in some boards it cannot read the memory, because it has not been fully seated in the ram slots. Or the two sticks have been placed in the wrong two slots.

So have a look how the memory should be populated on the board if it has four memory slots. Some boards are fussy on what two slots you use.

Hi, iv tried all possible combinations of the ram in the memory slots, but still no look. Also iv checked the graphics card and it is defiantly in correctly.

Any other Ideas?

Have a look at the gigabyte support page.
Check the cpu compatibility list for the board.

It will list the cpu and what revision of the bios must be installed on the board.
If your bios version is lower than the one stated the board needs it bios firmware to work right with your amd fx 6300. cpu.

On the gigabyte website it says bios version f3, but how do I check what bios version my board is without booting?

The revision of the board, and its bios can be located on the motherboard
in most cases.

The bios revision is normally printed next to the bios chip of the board or a sticker may be placed on the chip with the details of what bios firmware the chip holds.
